The Altus High School Cafeteria is the site of this year’s free physicals offered to area athletes.

This is a great thing offered to those needing to get the required physicals in order to participate in sports in the coming school year.

The physicals and mandatory drug screening for ALL extra-curricular activities grades 7 through 12 will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 1.

All those getting sport physicals will enter through the Altus High School Cafeteria which will allow those waiting to be inside enjoying some air conditioning instead of standing in long lines for hours outside. The drug screenings are usually what backs up the lines. However, this year’s event has been moved to Altus High School in order to allow for many more areas in which to conduct the drug screenings in order to move the process along quicker.

A minimum of nine physicians are expected to assist in the physicals.

Many area schools bus large groups of students to Altus to take advantage of the free service offered to their athletes. Patience is the theme of the day.
