Two members of Altus Masters Swim Club won their age group competitions in a minitriathlon in Wichita Falls, Texas hosted by Endurance House on May 15.
Emily Lund and Victor Wells swam 250 meters, biked 12 miles and ran five kilometers during the event.
“We were two of only a few Oklahoma folks to race, the rest being from Texas,” Lund said. “The race was really fun. Endurance House did a great job with the course and it was really interesting to swim in the lazy river at Castaway Cove.”
According to Lund, the changing climate was a bit of a challenge and even helped them make through the water more quickly.
“After a few weeks of hot weather we had a 55-degree morning and the water was brisk,” Lund said. “It was a quick swim though and once we got going on the bike it wasn’t too bad. All in all it was really fun and we were both glad to be able to participate.”
Lund and Wells both placed first in their respective age groups.
Lund was second overall for women and 15th overall for both men and women with a time of 1:13:48.
Wells placed 14th overall for men and 16th overall for both men and women with a time of 1:13:50
