The WOSC Foundation, Inc. and Western Oklahoma State College will be celebrating the 25th Annual Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament at The Greens of Altus on Saturday, Aug. 8. In 1990, the Western Oklahoma State College Foundation, Inc. established a scholarship endowment in memory of Jim Holland, long time college faculty member and southwest Oklahoma educator. Jim’s untimely death created a desire for many friends and family members to make contributions to the Western Oklahoma State College Foundation in his memory. With the support of Jim’s friends and family, the WOSC Foundation, Inc. held the 1st Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament in November of 1991 with the goal of raising $10,000. Each year since, the tradition has continued. After 24 years of fellowship and golf, the funds raised by the tournament have grown the scholarship endowment total to over $223,000.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. on Aug. 8, with a shotgun start, four-person scramble. Tournament registration fees are $200 per team and include: green fees, team carts, prizes, food, drinks and trophies. Mulligans are provided to each team by sponsorship provided by the WOSC Alumni Association. To register your team, visit wosc.edu/golf2015, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 580-477-7706. Deadline for team registration and payment is Friday, July 31. Space is limited to the first 18 teams.
This year’s tournament will take the Jim Holland Memorial Scholarship total to over $240,000 in endowment funding. Donations are tax deductible and will continue the Foundation’s heritage of awarding needed scholarships in memory of Jim Holland, long time college faculty member and southwest Oklahoma educator. Sponsorship opportunities are available for those looking to participate in this worthwhile benefit tournament.
