Two Altus Bulldogs qualified for the state power-lifting competition Friday at Norman.
Skyler Ledesma and Trevon Ridenour represented the Bulldogs well.
Ledesma put up 835 lbs. across three lifts and finished 12th out of 30 lifters in the 132 lbs. group. Ridenour hoisted 1,180 lbs. in his three lifts and took 19th in the 242 lbs. class.
“We had 24 kids participate in our first year of power-lifting and I couldn’t be more pleased with their effort,” said powerlifting coach Todd Vargas. “They have come a long way from the first day we started lifting. I am so proud of them. Skyler and Trevon are examples of how quickly Altus kids excel in new challenges. I truly believe the sky’s the limit for these kids. They work with a great attitude and effort, and when you do that you will always be successful.”
