54 Oklahoma All-Star swimmers returned from the Central Zone Multi-Cultural Meet in Brownsburg, Ind., and the first place trophy rode back to Oklahoma with them on their charter bus. Oklahoma’s 54 swimmers scored 4,537 points to Indiana’s 119 swimmers scoring 4,300 points. Illinois was a distant 3rd followed by Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota.
Bulldog All-State swimmer, Daniel Brown scored 86 points with gold medals in the 50 freestyle and the 200 medley relay and silver medals in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay. “I am really glad I got to compete in the Central Zone Multicultural Meet,” said Brown. “It was a unique adventure coupled with some amazing athletes. I was proud to represent Altus and Oklahoma and bring back the trophy.”
Daniel is ready to begin his senior season at Altus High School. He has high expectations for his senior Bulldog campaign. His name is already listed several times on the team record board at the Altus pool and once in the Oklahoma 5A State Swimming records in the 200 freestyle relay. “Altus owns two of the three 5A relay records, but we don’t have any of the eight individual records,” Brown added. “I’d like to do something about that this year.” Daniel wants to continue to work to qualify for the U.S. Junior Nationals.
The Bulldogs will start their 2015-2016 season this November. The boys are gunning for back-to-back state championships.
Daniel will attend Longhorn swim camp in a couple of weeks. This will help prepare him for the USA State Championship July 24-26.
