Gameday – Altus Bulldogs vs. Chickasha Chicks

Whoever made the schedules for the Altus Bulldogs, did our boys in blue a big favor by putting this one on Thursday night. Fall break for Altus Public Schools is this Friday and Monday.

However, the favor is more than just an opportunity to rest some bones on Friday morning. It allows any and all people interested in seeing the Ardmore at MacArthur game to attend that showdown on Friday.

The Bulldogs are certainly interested in that one for multiple reasons.

The Bulldogs are a superior team. I know it. You know it. The state of Oklahoma knows it. I assure you that Chickasha knows it. With former All-State linebacker Yohance Brown on the football staff at Chickasha, I promise you the Chicks are well aware of what is going on with our boys in blue.

Chickasha simply does not have the personnel to handle what the Bulldogs are bringing tonight. I realize that saying that is more bulletin board material than I ever like to put out there, but it doesn’t make it a false statement.

The quickest way to lose a game is to look ahead on the schedule. The all-time best way to get beat in the world of sports, business, or life in general, is to underestimate your opponent. So, don’t do that Bulldogs. Chickasha has been practicing and playing all year. They have lifted weights and conditioned their bodies and minds in the off-season. They too will get to play 11 players on every snap of the ball – same as you.

So, remain focused on the task at hand boys. Don’t turn the ball over. Get out of the gates early and don’t take your foot off that gas pedal. No matter the offensive scheme, or who is in the game. It ultimately comes down to blocking and tackling.

Don’t look ahead. That is for us to do.

GO BULLDOGS!!

The Bulldogs didn’t allow Chickasha to have much success on offense all night last year.

One of my favorite pictures from a year ago shows a devasting block on this Chickasha defensive lineman clearing room for #35 T.J. McGill.
