Navajo girls win Altus Cross Country Meet

The Navajo girls shiver in the rain at the dampened starting line before the Cache Meet last Saturday.


The Navajo High School girls won the cross country meet yesterday that was hosted by Altus. Altus placed second and Merritt was third.

Tabitha Armstrong finished third with a time of 15:30. Reilly Avila was fourth, Gracee Bates seventh, Kalee Cross eighth, Emmy Cobb 17th and Chelsea Cox was 18th.

The Navajo boys finished third as a team. Altus and Elk City were second and third respectively. Luke Muller was Navajo’s top finisher in 12th place with a time of 19:45.

The Navajo Junior High runners will compete at the Junior High All Star Meet in Oklahoma City on Thursday. The high school teams at Navajo will run at Velma-Alma on Saturday in the Regional competition. The high school girls will run at 10 a.m. followed by the boys at 10:45 a.m. The top five teams at Regionals will qualify to run at the State Meet at Oklahoma Baptist University next week.
