$1.6 M construction contract approved for Altus Schools

The Board of Education of the Altus Public School District approved to enter into a $1,665,600 construction contract with Pope Contracting of Oklahoma City, during their regular meeting on Monday, April 14. The Board discussed the joint payment of the project stating about $500,000 should be available in remaining MAPS Funds for renovations at the High School campus and the rest of the funding would come from the District’s building funds.

 

Commissioners approve juvenile detention agreement

Jackson County Commissioners approved a Detention Services Agreement with the Sac and Fox Nation Juvenile Detention Center on Monday, April 14, during their regular meeting along with other items on the agenda.The agreement states that Jackson County will reimburse the detention center for provisions of juvenile retention services at a rate of $21.11 per day per child, an amount that represents 15 percent of the Office of Juvenile Affairs approved operational cost of detaining a ch...

Main Street Altus held the 10th annual Walkin’ on Chalk this past Sunday, April 13 in downtown Altus. There were a total of 30 banners judged with the Scientific Theme “Spark a Reaction”. There were also 125 chalk squares judged.Each chalk art contestant was provided a 5-foot by 5-foot area of concrete to create their works of art on.
