Military honored at Rodeo opening night

Altus Air Force Base airmen and families were honored at the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo Military Appreciation Night, held Thursday, Aug. 21. Military guests were served up a free hot dinner by members of the Altus Chamber of Commerce and Altus Military Affairs Committee to show their gratitude for serving the USA, and being part of the Altus community.Col. Bill Spangenthal, 97th Air Mobility Wing Commander, Chief Master Sgt. Bryan Creager, 97th AMW Command Chief, and Col. Sushil S. Ramrakha, 97th AMW Vice Commander, rode out on tall horses during the rodeo’s opening ceremony to be recognized along with military personnel and families who attended the opening night at the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo.

Altus – Carl Josefy, executive director for Jackson County Farm Service Agency (FSA), announced that farmers and ranchers still have time to sign up for the Livestock Forage Program (LFP) for grazing losses that occurred from Oct. 1, 2011, through April 15, 2014.The Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) will provide payments to eligible producers for livestock deaths and grazing losses that have occurred since the expiration of the program in FY 2011.
