Bill and Nicki Hancock share a quiet moment at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.
The Altus Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon Thursday, April 19, at Western Oklahoma State College. Guest Speaker was Bill Hancock. Hancock is a multifaceted person with diverse interests. Author of two books, he has put his journalism degree to work in may fields. He worked as OU’s assistant sports information director and took over for his father as editor of the Hobart Democrat-Chief. He served as the media relations director for the Big Eight Conference, and became director of the Final Four. He’s been on the staff of nine Olympic games and two Pan American games. He’s now executive director of Bowl Championship Series.
Bill and his wife Nicki, herself a retired master teacher of the year in Kansas, are the parents of two sons, Nate and Will. Nate has two sons and Will had a daughter shortly before being killed in the 2001 OSU plane crash. Bill says grand parenting is one of his favorite hobbies. He has run 15 marathons and has ridden by bicycle across the U.S twice. Hancock is a musician, former musical director, an outdoorsman and avid sportsman.
