Wednesday, May 15 was proclaimed Eddie Wilcoxen Day in Altus. Wilcoxen and his wife Joan Wilcoxen are shown here with Altus Mayor David Webb. They met in the Mayor’s Office of the Municipal Complex to honor Eddie for his achievements and contributions made to the city of Altus. Wilcoxen is an American author, poet, and retired career radio broadcaster on KWHW FM, he has carried the Olypmic Torch to Atlanta, Ga. in 1996, was the 2011 and 2012 Oklahoma Poet Laureate, and has had a succesful career as a martial artist, teaching thousands of students in several states. He has also transformed nearly an acre of land into beautiful gardens that include Koi ponds, waterfalls, fountains, sculptures, and plantings of native and exotic plants.
