Altus High seniors Dillon Sessions and Kelsey Hicks are shown receiving the Horatio Alger Oklahoma Scholarship award from Altus High School counselor, Jana Williams. This scholarship, valued at $5,000, was awarded this year to eight Oklahoma students state-wide. The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. will be awarding nearly $7 million in college scholarships this year. The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include status as a graduating senior in 2012, commitment to pursuing a bachelor’s degree, and Unites States citizenship.
