A semi truck carrying 71 head of cattle overturned nine miles south of Altus Friday afternoon. According to reports, the truck had turned too sharp off of Hwy 5, north onto Hwy 283, when a combination of strong winds and his load shifting caused the truck to overturn. The highway was closed for some time while a hole was cut in the roof of the trailer, and the cattle were led out into a make-shift pin. Another cattle truck arrived to transport the cattle off the scene. Only three of the 71 head died in the accident. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
