Western hosted a group of legislative leaders and members of the college’s Board of Regents for a special informational meeting in the Higher Learning Center yesterday. State Rep. Charles Ortega, District 52 Assistant Majority Floor Leader; Jessica Willis, Field Aide for Representative Tom Cole; Garrett King, Field Aide for Rep. Frank Lucas and Brian Hackler, Field Representative for Senator James Inhofe were briefed by Western’s leadership about the upcoming visit from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and the items that will be evaluated at a peer review scheduled for Feb. 11 and 12.

The group was also informed regarding the history and development of online education at Western and the vital role technology plays in serving the college’s students.
Western’s President Dr. Phil Birdine said, “It is always beneficial to have the leadership of our state legislature on campus as well as the field representatives of our congressional delegation to discuss matters of importance to our campus. The upcoming visit by the HLC will be very important to Western and we want our state and national representatives to be fully informed regarding the scope of the HLC’s visit”.
