Multiple fatality accident west of Altus

Traffic in both directions on US Hwy 62 west of Altus was shut down for 2 1/2 hours this morning after an accident involving a passenger vehicle and a semi truck.
UPDATE:

THE VICTIMS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS: Richard Flood, 44; Stephen Flood,9; Jeremiah (Micah) Flood 8; and Joshua Flood, 5. Funeral services are pending with Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. An account has been set up for the Flood family at First State Bank in Altus. The mother, Ruby Flood, who was also in the vehicle, has been transported to Oklahoma City in serious condition.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers on the scene this morning, at least four people were killed in an accident five miles west of Altus on US Hwy 62.

EMS, Fire and Rescue team members, and others were on the scene removing victims from the wreckage that involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck.

Although the accident was still under investigation at presstime, one patrolman at the scene indicated that the passenger vehicle pulled out onto the highway from the road on the west side of the Victory Cemetery when the westbound semi-truck collided with it.

At least four people were pronounced dead at the scene, and at least one other person involved in the accident was Air-Evaced out in serious condition. The accident involved both adults and children.

Names of those involved in the accident were not available at presstime.

The accident happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. today, and the highway was shut down until 9 a.m.
