On Saturday, Nov. 10, in memory of our veterans, the Altus Cemetery will be decorated with 1,500 American flags. The cemetery staff will begin placing the flags out at 9 a.m. The flags were purchased for this purpose by the Altus Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

A Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Jackson County War Memorial at 11 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 11. The memorial, dedicated on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, 1989, lists casualties of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

The War Memorial is located in Kiwanis Park on Memorial Drive, next to the Museum of the Western Prairie in Altus.

A free community Veterans Day dinner will be hosted at noon at the VFW Post 4876 at 500 N. Veterans Drive in Altus.
