The Altus Blue Alliance fan club will have a silent auction at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb 22, at Town and Country Lanes, 1616 E. Broadway, Altus, while watching the game between OKC Thunder and Minn. Timber Wolves. Proceeds of the auction will help the group, “No Boundaries,” make a trip to the Congo to help with humanitarian aide.

According to the Altus Chapter Captain, Loran Mayes, “No Boundaries” is going to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they hope to work with local schools, provide HIV testing and funding for C-sections at the local clinic, and work with a widows and single mothers group with various workshops for sewing, baby care, general health care, agricultural programs, and protein deficiency access programs. They plan to help the general population to be more sustainable and self sufficient.

Not only does the Altus chapter of the Blue Alliance host watch parties and various contests, they also raise money and awareness for charities as well.

“Project Noel” was held in November 2012 where the fan club auctioned off OKC Thunder products and had proceeds go to low-income families to buy toys for Christmas.

In the Spring, they will participate in “Bowl for the Cure” in at Town and Country Lanes. Money raised will go to Altus’ local cancer center.

Their next goal, Mayes explained, is to have the Book Mobile come to Altus for one of their events.
