“Band Against Violence” concert sponsored by ACMI House

ACMI House is sponsoring an anti-violence concert, “Band Against Violence,” on April 6, at the Altus City Auditorium and is looking for bands to “donate their time and talent for this event.”

“The event is being held to raise awareness of violence within the community, and also to have some good old fashioned fun,” says Lori of ACMI house.

Anyone affected by violence can call or write anonymously to AMCI House to tell their story. “We’ll ask if they mind us sharing their story in between sets to show how violence does have an affect in peoples lives,” explained Lori.

They also invite any performers to sing with accompaniment CD’s, or read their poetry, or put on small skits. Teens Against Sexual Violence will be performing an anti-violence skit at the concert, Lori confirmed.

ACMI House operates under the Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc., and serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
