Chase Wilson will continue chasing his dreams. The former Navajo standout will play baseball and further his studies at Newman University, a private NCAA Division II, in Wichita, Kan.
Wilson finished a two year stretch at Dodge City Community College in Kansas compiling a 12-2 record for the Conquistadors and posting a 3.25 ERA.
His former high school coach, Weston Winters, reflected on Wilson’s time as a Navajo Indian. “I am very proud of Chase. He deserves every success that comes his way. Chase had the best work ethic of any kid I’ve had. He is a great example of hard work making a dream possible. I hope he looks back at his time here and is proud of the work he put in. I’m glad he represents our program.”
In what constitutes the ultimate show of respect and gratitude a coach could bestow on a former player, Winters has reached out to Wilson inviting him to return to his alma mater and talk to his Navajo team about his journey as he Chases baseball dreams.
