8th grade girls defeat Elgin
The Lady Dawgs started off slow against Elgin in the first quarter, leading only 4-2 after three minutes but Altus was able to roll off the next 7 points to end the quarter with an 11-2 lead. Altus continued to pour it on in the second frame outscoring Elgin 12-2 to take a 23-4 lead into the half.
Altus pulled off their press in the third frame and outscored the Lady Owls 9-2 to take a 32-6 lead into the final frame. Neither team was able to score in the final quarter and the Lady Dawgs came away with the victory.
Nia Hill led the scoring with 8 points while Kelsee Baker added 7. Kennedy Berry and Kady Worth added six points apiece.
“This was a great team effort by these ladies,” said Coach Robert Garrison, “They are all very unselfish and it showed tonight with our passing and shooting.”
Altus traveled to Elk City for a tough contest last Thursday night.
Altus was able to pull to within eight points late in the fourth quarter but foul trouble doomed the
comeback and Elk City pulled away for the victory. Angela Edwards led the team with 8 points while Berry added 6.
Altus will head into the Christmas break with a 5-4 season ledger. They will travel to Anadarko
on Jan. 6 before coming home to host a rematch with Elk City.
