WEATHERFORD - The Altus High Bulldogs seemed to have everything under control in the fourth quarter of their game with the Weatherford on Tuesday night. They had a 12 point lead but had to hang on for a 48-42 victory.

Altus led 37-25 early in the fourth period and it was a Weatherford team that was struggling offensively.

However, the Eagles had a six point flurry with in a 30 second time span and at that time the Bulldogs led 39-35 with a little more than three minutes remaining in the game.

Austin Parks broke the scoring drought for the Bulldogs with a three point play. He added two free throws later and with 1:35 remaining, Altus held a 45-38 advantage.

Altus shot poorly from the free throw line down the stretch. They missed seven free throws in the final minutes to give Weatherford an opportunity to come back. However, that comeback fell short.

When Kalyn Knight hit a free throw with 1:12 remaining, the Bulldogs led 47-37. That was too much much for the Eagles to overcome.

Devin Wilkerson led Altus with 16 points. Jeremiah Ward had seven points while Malik Knight, Trevaughn Pollard and Kalyn Knight all finished with six points.

Altus is 2-1 on the season. The Bulldogs travel to Duncan for an 8 p.m. game on Friday. They will host Clinton on Dec. 20 in the final game before the Christmas break.
