Editors note: The following is statement by Altus High Head Football Coach Chad Stone concerning comments he made last Friday night following the Altus-Ardmore football game.
Dear Patrons of Altus,
On Friday night directly following our heart-wrenching loss to #4 ranked Ardmore 34-35 on senior night, I made some inappropriate comments toward the officials of our game and the ejection of one of our seniors. Even though we will always have a difference in perspective from time to time, I shouldn’t have used a public forum to express my differences with those officials. I apologize not only to the officials of the contest, but to my team, coaches, school, and this community for my insensitive comments. It was neither warranted nor the Christian thing to do and I won’t let it happen again.
I want to be a strong role model for the youth Altus, and these comments don’t portray what I wish for the kids to see and, for that, I am extremely disappointed in myself. I have nothing but respect for what officials do and the tough job they go through. I even dressed up during homecoming week on “here” day as an officials because I could never do what they do. Again, I apologize for the unfortunate events and comments after a heated contest last Friday. God Bless and Go Bulldogs!!!
