Plantation Village Nursing Center held a quarterly community meeting at the end of January, where residents, family members, and staff enjoyed participating in a “Soup Challenge.” Those who attended enjoyed sampling 9 varieties of homemade soups made by staff, family members and members of the community.


Soups entered in the “Soup-off” were Minestrone, Fabulous Cheesy Potato, Queso Chicken, Chicken Pot Pie, Ruby’s Potato n’ Ham, Cheesy Taco Soup, La Sabrosita Chicken, Bacon Cheeseburger, and “Sick Soup.”


Kelley Duncan, Doug Altom and resident Jarvin Freeland served as judges for the event. Prizes were awarded in various categories.


Winning contestants were Amy Lindsey (Cheesy Taco Soup), Tracie McClellon (Ruby’s Potato n’ Ham), Diana Garcia (La Sabrosita Chicken), Donna Henry (Potato soup), and Amber LeGrande (“Sick Soup”).
