“Doc” Tennessen Athletic Training Facility dedication set for Jan. 25
The dedication ceremony for the “Doc” Tennessen Athletic Training Facility will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10:30 a.m. inside the newly remodeled athletic training facility on the campus of Altus High School. The ceremony is open to the public and a reception honoring Dr. Charles “Doc” Tennessen will be held immediately following the dedication.
Chuck “Doc “Tennessen served Altus Schools as the athletic trainer from 1989-1995. Doc Tennessen retired from Altus Public Schools in 1995 after many years of serving Southwest Oklahoma. He graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis in 1961. He opened a private practice in Fredrick, Oklahoma soon after graduation. In 1968 he began a career as head athletic trainer at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he worked until 1975. From 1975 -1989, Doc served the Hobart Public School system as a science teacher and athletic trainer. He then moved to Altus, where he stayed until his retirement.
In addition, the newly renovated campus of Altus High School will be open from 11 a.m. to 12 noon for the public to view.
