Altus man arrested on various felony charges

Altus Police arrested an Altus man on various felony charges after officers attempted a traffic stop Monday, shortly before 12 p.m.
Patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of South Benson. The driver exited his vehicle and suddenly lead police on a foot pursuit. The suspect ran but was finally apprehended near the 700 block of West Broadway.
During a search of the suspect, police found a white crystal like substance, believed to be methamphetamine in both front pockets of the suspect. The suspect, Mike Maldonado, 30, was transported to the Jackson County Jail.
Police recovered two handguns, and drug paraphernalia commonly used to smoke methamphetamine in the vehicle that Maldonado was driving. Police later discovered that Maldonado had arrest warrants from both Oklahoma County and Comanche County.
Maldonado was jailed on complaints of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, obstructing police, no drivers license, no seat belt, Comanche County and Oklahoma County arrest warrants.
