The City of Altus’ Deputy City Administrator has resigned, leaving City officials with a vacant position to be discussed at next week’s regular City Council meeting. According to Mayor David Webb, James Wilson, Deputy City Administrator for the City of Altus, has submitted his resignation notice.

“James was offered, and accepted, a nice position in Alaska where he had worked before,” Webb said. “We knew they were continually recruiting him, so no big surprise there. This is a wonderful career opportunity for him.”

The position, overseeing human resources, finance department, and Fleet Maintenance, was created by City Council by combining several department directors into one. This found the City a savings of $346,000 during the recent budget approval process in June.

“We’ll be working through the transition and will discuss it further on Tuesday,” Webb said.
