Children were allowed to join in Western Heritage Week and Rodeo Days fun by participating in a Rodeo Field Day at the Life Place Child Development Center on Falcon Road Friday.

According to director Debbie Dungan, this 1st annual event had lots of games and special events for the children including “calf” roping, throwing hula hoops over a “steer” head, and did barrel races in which kids rode foam noodle ponies through an obstacle course. Other rodeo-like events included “bull” riding and a hopper ball relay race.

Rodeo representatives showed up at the event on Friday to visit with the children about the rodeo. On on where rodeo bull fighters Dusty Duba and Dustin Brewer, along with reigning Great Plains Stampede Rodeo Princess Cylee Childs. During the event, children also got to see and pet a real horse.
