The annual Great Plains Stampede Rodeo starts tonight. Activities this week include a nightly rodeo Aug. 21-23, as well as a cattle drive and parade.
The 36th annual rodeo begins each night at 8 p.m., with the Thursday Military Night. A free barbecue dinner held at 6 p.m. at the arena for all military and dependent rodeo ticket holders. Military personnel will also compete in a ten-person-team tug-o-war tournament. Friday, Aug. 22 is designated as Family Night, and Saturday is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” and the finale.
Advance ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for kids, or $10 at the gate for children or adults. Advance tickets can be purchased from any Queen or Princess contestant. Box seats are $12 advance or $15 at the gate.
The GPSR Parade will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23. Lineup will be at noon at Bradford and Grady, with the parade heading south down Main Street, and then back to the Rodeo Arena on E. Broadway.
Rodeo events will include Bull Riding, Barrell Racing, Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Tie Down Calf Roping, and Steer Roping.
