What was originally reported to Altus Police as a possible fight around 3:30 a.m. at the Ridgecrest Apartments early Sunday morning, resulted in gunfire and the arrest of an Altus man.

According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, arrested was LeeRay Nunez, 28. Nunez was taken into custody and is being held at the Jackson County Jail on charges of shooting with intent to kill.

Although two apartments were struck by gunfire, there were no injuries reported to police.

Murphy said that after police arrived, witnesses said that the individuals involved ran into apartment #1 at 1301 Springfield. Murphy said that those subjects were located, both adults and juveniles, and were transported to the police department for questioning.

Police then obtained a search warrant and discovered four handguns hidden inside the apartment.

Murphy said that additional arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
