After 10 months of roadwork, North Park Lane is now officially open for through traffic. The speed limit is currently 25 mph.
Before construction the section of road had a speed limit of 35 mph, but will be increased to 45 mph, said City of Altus Street Department Manager, Holmes Willis. The intersection at Park Lane and Falcon Road will continue to function as a four-way stop until the traffic lights are programmed in the near future.
Back in July, Oklahoma Department of Transportation workers began construction on N. Park Lane between Falcon and Tamarack roads. Since August, drivers have had to proceed with extra caution, obeying the intersection of Tamarack and Park Lane as a 3-way traffic sign.
The section of road has been closed off to through traffic as contractors turned the road into a four lane roadway and rebuilt the roadway box underneath N. Park Lane, as well as add new intersection modifications and street signals at Falcon and N. Park Lane.
In total, the project costs $4,671,931.62. Work was performed by Duit Construction Co, Inc./ TTK Const. Co. of Edmond.
