AHS Choir seeks funding

More than 60 members of the Altus High School Choir program are scheduled to go to New York City for the annual choir trip March 23-26 and are running fundraisers to help defray the cost.

The group is slated to participate in a festival chorus of high school choirs from across the country held at Carnegie Hall and perform a commissioned choral piece and meet the composer, followed by a one-hour private clinic, 20 minutes of solo stage time and listing on the festival concert playbill.

The students plan to attend the Broadway musical “Wicked,” participate in a private workshop with the performing cast and visit a variety sites that include Central Park, Times Square, the 9/11 Memorial, SoHo, Battery Park and the Metropolitan Art Museum.

The Altus High School choir parents are selling alumni T-shirts with the a new choir logo and are accepting donations for the endeavor.
