SWOSU students attend 2024 Student Leadership Retreat

Recently, twenty Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) students representing various departments attended the 2024 Student Leadership Retreat at the Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) on Thursday, Feb. 29. This event, sponsored by the Council on Student Affairs, the Oklahoma Student Government Association, the Student Advisory Board, and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, aimed to provide opportunities for students to grow their leadership skills.

Nationally attended Scissortail Creative Writing Festival scheduled for April 4-6, 2024

The annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival returns to East Central University April 4-6, 2024, marking the 19th year the festival has taken place. Kai Coggin (Hot Springs, Ark.), Steve Yarbrough (Boston, Mass.) and Quraysh Ali Lansana (Tulsa, Okla.), will be the featured authors this year.

The 81st annual Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge longhorn sale will be held at Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing, Inc. (Apache Auction Market) in Apache, Oklahoma on Thursday April 11, 2024. Stockman Oklahoma Livestock Marketing is located 0.75 miles northwest of Apache, Oklahoma off Highway 19. Approximately 50 animals will be available, including 2 year old bulls, yearlings, and calves. New books chronicles SW Oklahoma women

A mother-and-daughter team of Jackson County Oklahoma have published two new books which cover the lives and stories of the women of southwest Oklahoma’s five counties. “Prairie Mothers In Their Own Words” is drawn from interviews with 51 local women, which were collected for over a decade by local biographer Glyna Marple Olson and her daughter, Lisa Olson Rogers of Edmond.
