There’s no substitute for blood needed by patients in local hospitals served by Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). Anyone who is healthy and at least 16 years old* will be able to make a life-saving difference from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug 24, at a blood drive at Olustee High School.
August is the last month donors receive two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a zoo-themed T-shirt. Health screenings and Donor Rewards points, redeemable in OBI’s online store, are also provided to donors.
“Everyone knows someone who’s needed blood. It impacts all ages of people and often arises unexpectedly as a result of accident or illness,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and CEO. “Whether we know them or not, there are people now who are counting on us to give.”
Patients who receive blood exclusively from OBI donors include those in Jackson County Memorial.. Oklahoma Blood Institute provides every drop of blood needed to some 158 medical facilities statewide.
Appointments are not necessary, but can be made by calling 877-340-8777 or visiting www.obi.org.
