Jaws of Life used Monday accident

Altus Police responded to an accident with injury Monday morning shortly before 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Commerce.

According to reports, a 2011 Cadillac, driven by Denton Celsor, 25, of Sentinel, was south bound on Main approaching the intersection of Main and Commerce. A 2006 Volkswagen Beatle, driven by Donna Rowland, 57, of Mangum, was east bound on Commerce approaching the intersection of Main and Commerce.

Police Chief Tim Murphy said that due to the damage sustained to her vehicle and her injuries, Rowland had to be extricated by the Altus Fire Department using the “Jaws of Life”. She was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel. She was later transported to an Oklahoma City hospital for internal injuries. Celsor was not injured in the accident.

Murphy said that they are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact the Altus Police Department at 580-482-4121.
