Arturo DeJesus, 34, charged with first degree rape is set for a formal arraignment 9 a.m. Aug. 3 in Jackson County District Court.
DeJesus faces a rape charge that allegedly occurred Dec. 18, 2015 at the defendant’s residence on S. Baucum Street in Altus, where the defendant was staying over the Christmas holiday school break.
According to the affidavit, the defendant allegedly forced the 16-year-old virgin to have sexual intercourse with him, covering up her mouth and telling her to shut up.
Witnesses for the state included the Department of Human Services of Greer County worker Maggie Lee DeJesus, mother of the victim, Altus police and the victim.
According to the district attorney’s office, during the recorded interview the defendant did not deny the rape or having sex with the victim, he only stated repeatedly “I do not remember.”
DeJesus was denied bond and has an additional pending violent crime case of domestic assault and battery by strangulation from an incident June 29, 2015.
