Fundraising efforts for the Blair City Park are ongoing in order to further the improvements and create a truly “Blair Proud” place for kids and families. Since 2012, over $20,800 has been raised, supplying new playground equipment, installation of lights on the softball field and will help with the construction of a new concession stand and bathroom combo.
“When the idea of a fundraiser was born, we had no idea we would get such a great response from the community. It has truly been a blessing. We are extremely thankful for everyone who has helped in supporting our efforts to improve the park,” said Amanda Downing.
A Softball Game Fundraiser will take place Saturday, July 18, at Blair City Park, located at the east end of Main Street in Blair. The co-ed softball games featuring 10 teams will begin at 10 a.m., and will be the first games played under the new field lights.
In addition to the softball game, Frederick Inflatables will set up two bounce houses and an obstacle course, donating 50 percent of the proceeds back to the cause.
The rest of the activities are scheduled as follows:
1:00- OKC Zoo, live interactive animal presentation
2:00- LITTLE RED WAGON PAINT PARTY, hosted by “The How to Palace”, and is open to all ages. There will be a kid’s and an adult’s version. All materials will be supplied. Cost will be $20 per person with 50 percent going back to the Blair City Park.
3:00- Air Evac Meet and Greet
The Dr Pepper trailer will be open for concessions throughout the entirety of the event, as well as a Silent Auction with great items from various local businesses. Items will be accepted until the July 15.
“We are proud that the park is seeing an increase in visitors, parties, and family entertainment over the last few years. We look forward to continuing improvements to make The Blair City Park a park we can be proud of for many years to come. Thank you in advance to everyone for helping our efforts. We truly appreciate every volunteer, umpire, team, and donation. We would not be as far along as we are now without your past and present support,” said Downing.
