Emmanuel serving 60 years of good news

The 60-year celebration of sharing good news of Jesus Christ will be 10 a.m. Sunday at First Emmanuel Baptist Church , 800 North Forrest St. in Altus.

The First Emmanuel Baptist Church of Altus will be celebrating sixty years of serving the Altus community in sharing God’s news of Jesus Christ, 10 a.m. Sunday at 800 North Forrest Street.

Former staff members and musicians will start by leading the praise service, the Rev. Boyd Whitehead, pastor, will share a message on “re-directing the newly remodeled building to the Lord.” In the fellowship hall there will be a barbecue brisket and fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings.

The afternoon session starts at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Chapman, an ordained minister for Emmanuel, who will share the afternoon message “celebrating the 60th anniversary.”

First Emmanuel Baptist Church has many ministries for youth and adults. Awana, blast, children’s Bible club, mission friends, kids for Christ, men and ladies ministries, music, prayer, youth ministry and Sunday school.

The Vacation Bible School is for pre-K through sixth-grade, 9:15 a.m. to noon June 20-24.
