Local ladies compete in Miss Oklahoma pageants

Altus will be well represented in the 2016 Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant and the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant.

Preliminaries will begin Tuesday, with Teen finals June 10 and Miss finals June 11. The pageants will be in the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.

The 2016 Miss Altus Lexie Herron is in the Mu Group and will be contestant number eight. Herron’s competition will begin Monday with a private interview. Tuesday will be the first preliminary with Miss Altus competing in physical fitness in swimsuit. Herron will show off her vocal talent by performing “Gimme Gimme” from the musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” on Wednesday. On-stage question and evening gown competition will be June 9. Saturday night will begin with the announcement of the Top 11 who will again compete in swimsuit, talent and evening gown. The top five contestants will answer an on-stage question before the crowning of Miss Oklahoma 2016.

Herron’s parents are Shannon and Lynne Herron. A 2016 Altus High School graduate, she will be attending Western Oklahoma State College in the Fall.

Miss Altus Star 2016 is Katie Beth Davis. She is the eight-year-old daughter of Dusty and Amanda Davis. She will be in the third-grade in the Fall. June 9 she will accompany Herron on-stage during evening gown competition at the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant.

The 2016 Miss Altus Outstanding Teen Jimmie Kate Dollins will begin her competition in the Omega Group as contestant number 26. Private interview will be Wednesday before preliminary competition begins. June 9 Dollins will compete in talent with her gymnastics routine to “Freak.” Dollins will compete in active wear, on-stage question and evening wear June 10. The 2016 Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant Finals will be June 10.

Dollins is the daughter of Wendall and Jennifer Dollins. She will be a senior at Altus High School this Fall.

Ashley Wheeler has held the title of Miss Altus Outstanding Teen 2010 and Miss Altus 2013. She is going to compete as Miss Lawton 2016 in the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant this year. She will be contestant number 24 in the Omega Group. Interview for Ashley will be Monday evening. Ashley will perform a vocal solo to a song called “The Yodelin’ Blues” on Tuesday, the first night of preliminaries. Wednesday will be on-stage question and evening gown. The third night of competition, Wheeler will compete in physical fitness in swimsuit. A recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Wheeler is the daughter of J. R. and Melanie Wheeler of Altus.

Molly Little, 2016 Miss Piedmont Outstanding Teen held the title of Miss Altus Outstanding Teen 2015 and will be contestant number four in the Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant. She is in Alpha Group and will have her interview Wednesday. The first preliminary competition for Little will be active wear, on-stage question and evening gown on June 9. She will perform a jazz dance for her talent to “Dear Future Husband”. Little is the daughter of Trey and Angie Little and will be a junior at Altus High School in the Fall.

There are 50 contestants competing in the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant and 30 contestants competing in Miss Oklahoma Outstanding Teen Pageant.
