MANGUM — Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run collision that killed a grandmother and her young granddaughter Monday night.
Wanda Perry, 59, of Mangum, was walking with her one-year-old granddaughter, Aniya Jade Perry, just before a thunderstorm moved through the area Monday night, when Perry was struck and killed by a car.
Authorities say the car drove off the right side of the road and struck multiple vehicles before hitting Perry and her granddaughter.
The vehicle and driver have not yet been identified and no arrests have been made.
According to Mangum Police Chief Scott Paxton, investigators are piecing together the details and could not yet release any information.
“It’s still under investigation,” Paxton said Wednesday, adding that the town attorney Chris Ray would be releasing information as it became available.
