Residents of Altus and surrounding Jackson County are celebrating Rock N Rumble, Cruisin’ with Main Street for an 18th season.
The Altus Live group is set to kick off events 6 p.m. Friday on the downtown square with the band Bryce Dicus and the Mercenaries. Vendors are scheduled to be set up on the Jackson County Courthouse parking lot.
“We are excited to celebrate the 18th year of Roll N Rumble and we encourage everyone to visit the main street office at 100 North Main St. to purchase a T-shirt for $15, which helps to fund many other Main Street Altus events,” Main Street Altus Director Amy Jo Cobb said.
Cobb said four Altus car dealers take turns sponsoring the official Rock N Rumble T-shirt and this year sponsor is Putnam Toyota.
There are other activities in conjunction with the Rock N Rumble, such as the Disabled American Veterans’ Pancake Breakfast at the Towers from 7 a.m. to noon; the Motorcycle Poker Run, Show and Cruise sponsored by Altus/Lawton Motorsports; the Burn Out Contest sponsored by the Altus Firefighters Combat Challenge Team; the Hot Wheels Car Show sponsored by the How To Palace; the Stereo Sound off Competition sponsored by Smiley’s Tires, Tunes and Tints; the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby sponsored by Century 21 Altus Prestige Realty and the free outdoor concert featuring Roy Lee Scott “The Flying Cowboy.”
Tailgate parties will be positioned along the cruise route. The Saturday night cruise is from 7-9 p.m. and is open to everyone with a cruise pass.
The Main Street Altus office will be open all week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Friday when it closes at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, Main Street Altus will have a tent set up on the square, near downtown on Hudson Street at 7 a.m. This will be the last opportunity to register a vehicle or motorcycle, or buy a T-shirt. For more information call 580-482-2277.
