Altus Air Force Base will host the 37th Boom Operator Retreat/Memorial ceremony starting tomorrow through Saturday evening.

Boom operators, hold an annual meeting where not only those who are on active duty attend, but the doors are open to any past boom operators. The reason it is held in Altus is because Altus AFB trains or in the past trained, all boom operators that are supplied to the Air Force.

AAFB typically hold briefings that include the status of career fields, school house briefings, simulators for example the new KC-46, etc. It is a time where former boom operators, and those that have passed away (the memorial piece) are recognized. The ceremony also includes a special guest speakers for the event. The gathering brings boom operators from all over the Air Force to Altus Air Force Base.

The event has been held at Scott AFB, Ill. the past two years. In general, it is a weekend of reflection and fun. Part of the activites include a golf tournament, a motorcycle ride, and this year , a corn hole (bags) tournament. On the formal side is the banquet on Saturday night.
