The staff at NBC Bank of Oklahoma, and members of the Altus community attended Linda Exstrom’s retirement reception to honor and thank her for 16 years of dedicated service and commitment to the bank.
Linda worked as executive assistant to Ken Fergeson of NBC. Her duties and responsibilities included scheduling and coordinating board meetings, travel plans, planning receptions and dinners, and was involved in the forming of local and state organizations. Exstrom said at times she felt just as busy scheduling and planning than the office of the Governor.
Exstrom came to Altus in 1999 with her husband Lyle, who had accepted the position of publisher for the Altus Times. The couple were both from Nebraska and were high school sweethearts. She said, “When Lyle and I relocated to Altus, we were very welcomed, and I thank everyone for making it an easy transition. The Altus community has a unique way of doing things. It is a very close community and always willing to lend a hand.”
Linda said that highlights of working with Ferguson include the publishing of the NBC Oklahoma artist series book, and involvement in local and state organizations. Prior to working at NBC, she worked under past Western Oklahoma State College Dean Randy Cumby in student affairs. Exstrom said she loved the excitement of the students and the positive attitudes all over the campus.
Her retirement plans include painting, one of her favorite hobbies, and traveling to Nebraska and Mississippi to be a part of her grandkids activities.
Exstrom said she will truly miss her job. “They are like family,” said Linda. “They have always been there for anything,” she said.
