SWTC students receive scholarships

Nine Southwest Technology Center students recently received Otha Grimes Scholarships.

The scholarships are presented in the spring and fall of each school year provided through the Oklahoma Career Tech Foundation.

This springs’s recipients include Brandon Tate, Darren Sisk and Nicolas Sanchez in aviation and aerospace technology; Brittany Ray in business and computer technology-medical; Arthur Bender and Joshua Drake in Electronics; Tina Wilhite from cosmetology; Leslie Norman and Kara Throckmorton in practical nursing.

These scholarships are presented to adult students enrolled in full time training programs that are making satisfactory progress and exhibit a need and interest to complete a career objective in a technical education program.

Otha Grimes was actively involved in agriculture, oil and gas production and civic programs, and served as a board member of the Oklahoma Vocational-Technical Foundation founded in 1970.
