Altus Power has mailed out 400 past due letters to customers who are 90 days or more delinquent. The past due amounts account for $851,352.49 of the $1.2 million current uncollected utility bills.
Customers who are 90 days or more past due on their utility accounts now have two options. They can either pay their bill in full, with removal of penalties, or they can set up a deferred payment plan with steps and guidelines set forth by an authorized Altus Power customer service representative.
A customer must set up an appointment to adjust their bill or to negotiate deferred payment plan. If customers don’t take care of their past due account by using one of their options, or don’t follow up with the guidelines of Option 2, their service will be terminated without further notice. It was also noted that their service will not be restored without paying their balance in full, including disconnection fee, according to Altus City Code Section 28-8 (4).
The letter and plan was approved at the Feb. 16 Altus City Council meeting.
Past due customers have until March 15 to choose option 1 or 2. Altus Power customers can call 580-481-2295 for more information.
