Juvenile injured in ATV accident

A personal injury accident happened Sunday on private property at the intersection of Walnut and 1st street in Martha. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 14-year-old juvenile male was riding a 2012 Honda 350cc ATV when the accident occurred.

Reports state that the juvenile (name withheld) was jumping a private drive when when he lost control when landing, throwing him an undetermined distance.

The juvenile was taken by Jackson County EMS to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital where he was later transferred to the OU Childrens Hospital by Air Evac. He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

Seat belts were not equipped and he was not wearing a helmet.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Jimmy Wallace #734 of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M. He was assisted by Lt. George Dickerson of Troop M, Trooper Jeff Fielder of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County EMS, Martha First Responders, and Air Evac.
