The City Of Altus will be holding a surplus auction at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. The auction will be held at the corner of Martin Luther King and Hudson, just west of city hall, with Jason Herring serving as the auctioneer.
City of Altus Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Kevin Jones said there will be a trailer at the city garage for participants to register. The garage is located at 521 S. Lee. Those wanting to participate are reminded to bring their tax ID number if they don’t want to be charged tax. Jones said that people have shared positive interests about the sale and that there have been several inquiries.
Forms of payment that will be accepted for the auction are cash, check or a cashier’s check. The City of Altus will offer the items to the highest bidder without reserves. Bidders can also inspect the items on location prior to sale, or visit auctionzip.comp-auctioneer id 36286 facebook@jasonherringauctioneers.
The Altus City Council declared the items in this auction as surplus and authorized selling them at the Dec. 1, 2015 council meeting. Items are from various departments throughout the city and are not in use by either the Altus Municipal Authority or City. The City of Altus Code Ordinance Section 2-111 says Council must declare items as surplus when the valuation of each particular item exceeds $1,000.
The surplus items include tractors, backhoes, trucks, trailers, cars, pickups, vans, implements green mowers and other equipment. All vehicles with titles will be delivered or mailed 10 business days after the auction by the auction company.
Concessions and restrooms will be on site. Call the City of Altus at 580-481-2248 for more information.
