The Altus Police Department currently employs 51 police officers including 37 full-time patrol officers, six full-time detectives, one part-time detective and seven reserve patrol officers.


The Altus Police Department radio log for the month of December 2015 reports a total of 4,239 calls. Calls consisted of everything from traffic stops to domestic disturbances. In a new series, the Altus Times will feature both Altus and Oklahoma crimes, focusing on the various types of crimes, both ongoing and solved, as well as crime prevention.

The Altus Police Department currently employs 51 police officers that deals with all types of crimes within the city of Altus. This includes 37 full-time patrol officers, six full-time detectives, and seven reserve patrol officers. The enhanced 911 dispatch center currently employs 11 full-time dispatchers and two reserve dispatchers. The department also employs two secretaries for records, and a secretary for the Chief of Police.

Through a legislative mandate, all state, county, city, and town law enforcement agencies shall submit a monthly report to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations on forms prescribed by the Bureau.
