Time is flying and already the conclusion to the 2015 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute is fast approaching. On Friday, June 26, there will be Ballet & Modern Dance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Robert M. Kerr Performing Arts Center (PAC). That same evening, has the Institute Chorus on stage from 8 to 9 p.m.
The Summer Arts Institute concludes Saturday June 27, so there are a lot of things occurring in a short period of time. The Gallery opening is at 10 a.m., acting performances will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the PAC. From 4 to 5:30 p.m., there are film screenings and poetry readings at the PAC. The Institute Orchestra has the final performance from 8 to 9 p.m. on Saturday June 27.
The complete schedule of artists’ lectures, student and faculty performances can be downloaded at www.quartzmountain.org/2015OSAIperformances.pdf. These events are free and open to the public.
Attendance for the concluding student performances is always good. With many people all heading to the same location, at the same time, it takes a wee bit longer to get places! So Remember to allow plenty of time, for parking and getting to the performances.
This is also a very busy weekend for Quartz Mountain Park campgrounds. If you are planning on bringing your trailer out to the Main Park this weekend, it is best to come on Wednesday or Thursday. By Friday morning, we anticipate the Main Park RV sites will be full and we’ll be directing people to the Northshore campgrounds: Lakeview and Cottonwood. The tent sites normally do not fill as fast as RV sites.
This year the Independence Day Holiday is just six days after the close of the 2015 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. With a full lake and the 4th of July falling on a Saturday this year, we anticipate the RV sites will fill early in the week. Again if you want to RV camp in the Main Park, most weeks it is best to bring your camper out the Wednesday or Thursday before the weekend you wish to camp. For Independence Day 2015-you might want to try arriving Monday, July 29 or Tuesday June 30.
