The City of Altus Annual Easter Egg Hunt is set for Saturday, March 26 at the Altus City Park. The planning committee has added pre-activities to kick off at noon to include food vendors, inflatables, and live entertainment. The Easter Bunny is also scheduled to appear and be available for photos.
Each age group will be sectioned off from, 2-12 year-old age groups. Eggs will include candy, toys, and free prize coupons. Prizes will consist of toys, Easter baskets, stuffed animals and other surprises. Lucky winners will receive grand prizes. In each age group, one boy and one girl will receive a grand prize bicycle.
Extra volunteers will be needed to assist with the added activities. Individuals, youth groups, churches, civic groups and other organizations can help, or make monetary donations, by calling Freddy Perez with the City of Altus at 481- 2265, or Julie Lynch with McDonald’s at 477-2400.
In 2015, the event had 10,000 eggs filled with coupons, 32 large stuffed animals, 48 baskets, 5,000 coupon eggs, six cases of Tootsie Rolls, 2200 Laffy Taffies, and four bikes. The Committee would like to have more members of the community volunteer, and help sponsor the annual event. Any business can be a title sponsor or give a monetary donation.
The Easter Egg Hunt committee will also meet in February to finalize plans. The meeting will be hosted by Araceli’s Restaurant in Altus.
