The heaviest of snowfall was predicted to the far western portion of Altus on Friday night. The scattered winter storm clouds eventually left 1-2 inches of fluffy snow on the area. The snow was not as dense as the Christmas weekend snow, and quickly melted before noon on Saturday.
Some residents were worried about this weekend’s storm after the last winter storm knocked out power to the entire Altus area. Some residents in outlaying areas were out of power for days.
Skies became partly cloudy by noon on Saturday, and most traces of the overnight snow were gone. The Sunday forecast is for a high of 46 under partly cloudy skies. By Thursday expect temperatures to creep up into the 50s.
The National Weather Service is predicting a 20% chance of more snow next Friday, Jan. 15, but otherwise, partly to mostly sunny skies are predicted over the next 10 days with highs around 50 degrees.
